Belarus visa fees for US and UK passport holders drop

updated on 15/01/2015

From 13 January Belarus visa fees for the UK and US passport holders get lower and now amount to those charged from the applicants of most other countries.

According to the Foreign Ministry of Belarus this is one of the measures implemented by the Republic of Belarus in 2015 to make the visas regime more democratic. The applicants from the above mentioned countries who are under 14 will be able to apply for visas free of charge.

Another innovation allows one to apply for a business visa for up to three years long in a simplified way.

The website of the Embassy of Belarus in the USA describes this decision of the government as a unilateral step to develop friendship ties between the two nations, lift the barriers between people and promote tourism to Belarus. It is to demonstrate the openness of the Belarusian government towards cooperation in different spheres.

New visa fees were posted on the embassy website. According to these, kids under 14 from the UK and US will apply free of charge, a single-entry transit visa will cost $25 instead of $160, a single-entry short-term visa will cost $75.
