Belarus and Turkey establish visa-free regime

updated on 29/03/2013

On 29 March Belarus and Turkey signed a treaty that provides for visa-free short-term visits between the two countries. This treaty is a landmark achievement of the two countries initiated by the president of Belarus when he visited Turkey in 2010.

From now on Belarusians can spend 30 days in Turkey without a visa and so can the Turkish citizens in Belarus. The total number of days for such stays during the year is 90 which is going to improve the relations between the two countries. It is particularly expected to increase the number of inbound and outbound tourism in Belarus and Turkey.

The representatives of both delegations highlighted that since Belarus had become an independent state over 20 years ago the relations between the two countries are based on mutual interests and understanding.

Note, that several months might pass before the current law act comes into force.
