What kind of hotels are there in Belarus?

updated on 16/10/2016

This is a very complicated question. There are over 350 hotels in Belarus that were built mainly in Soviet times. Most of these are currently owned and run by the state, but there are also private establishments that care about their reputation. Since most hotels are state-owned the prices are state-regulated and therefore are higher than those at the hotels of the same level in neighbor countries. In any way, the hotels often have to be booked for the sake of visa support.

You might as well consider one of our partner apartments - visa support papers are supplied all the same.

Naturally, the best hotels are located in Minsk, over 20 of them in total. The mid-range ones are the Belarus Hotel (renovated in 2014), the Yubileiny Hotel, the Planeta Hotel and the Sputnik Hotel. These are centrally located hotels where service quality often meets the price. Since Belarus hosted the World Hockey Championship in 2014 the government built a good number of new ones ranging from 1 to 5*.

The newly-open Garni Hotel offers scanned booking confirmations that can get you a 10-day visa (depending on the number of nights booked).

In other regional centers there are fewer hotels that are normally not refurbished and where the staff is not necessarily smiling and polite. However, there are certain establishments in each regional center that can be recommended for a stay.
